What does 10x Learning Center NOT do?
Q: How do I enroll in 10X?
A: Start by setting up a shadow day under the “try a class” link! A member of the admin team will reach out within a few days to learn about your academic needs and interests. We will set up a schedule for your shadow day. Afterwards, the teachers will let the admin team know how it went. The admin team will set up a short meet and greet for the family before the final acceptance.
Q: Is there a membership fee?
A: If a family is taking more than one course at 10X, yes. It’s a fee of $150 for one student, $225 for two students, or $275 for three or more students per academic year.
Q: Are you registered with the Department of Education?
A: No, we are not.
Q: What's the program's cost?
A: Our annual membership fee is $150 for one students, $225 for two students, or $275 for three or more students. From there, the program cost will depend on how many classes you decide to enroll in. If you want to know the price of our individual courses, you can find that here: https://www.10xlearningcenter.com/academics
Q: Can a Shadow Day be rescheduled?
A: We understand that things come up, and we’re happy to reschedule with advance notice. Shadow Days may be rescheduled up to three times, depending on our team’s availability. To respect our staff’s time and planning, missed appointments without notice (no-shows) may not be eligible for rescheduling.
Q: Do vendors/teachers have to accept students into their classes?
A: Most teachers are flexible and do their best to accommodate all students. However, our instructors run their own program with the 10X community. They will use their professional judgment when accepting students into their classes.
In some cases, they may recommend a different class, or pause/decline enrollment if they believe the class may not be the best fit for a student’s current skill level. For example, a student working at a 5th-grade math level would likely not be accepted into Pre-Algebra, which is typically an 8th-grade level course.
Q: Why do you mix multiple grades in your classes?
A: It depends on the class. Enrichment classes may include a small range of ages, typically grouped closely to support collaboration and social learning. Academic classes, however, are organized by similar age and skill-level to ensure students are learning at an appropriate pace and level.
Q: Is your program accredited?
A: No, our program is not. It is a learning and enrichment center for homeschooling families, not a school.
Q: Do you provide transcripts or grades?
A: No, we do not.
Q: Do you file with the state on my behalf?
A: No, we do not. A charter school can help you or you can navigate that independently with a PSA.
Q: Are families required to attend Bethel Baptist Church?
A: They are not! We do appreciate partnering with Bethel Baptist Church to use their space during the week and expect students to treat the space with respect.
Q: Are vaccinations mandatory?
A: We respect the privacy of individual medical decisions and do not require disclosure of vaccination status.
Q: Do you provide lunch?
A: No, we encourage families to provide packed lunches for their children during their time with us. There are a Trader Joes and Jimbo’s nearby!
Q: Can I use charter funds to pay for my 10x Learning Center membership?
A: No, our program does not accept charter funds for membership payments.
Q: Can I switch classes mid-semester?
A: Unfortunately, class changes are not feasible once the semester has commenced, ensuring stability and continuity in our classes.
Q: Do you accommodate special needs?
A: While we try to accommodate where possible, our program isn't tailored for special needs.
Q: Who is the “school of record” for my student when enrolled with 10x Learning Center?
A: Parents remain the primary educators. 10x Learning Center provides an instructional model and issues progress reports but does not hold permanent student records. Families should be familiar with local homeschooling regulations for keeping educational records.
Our Education Team selects curriculum based on academic rigor, accessibility, standards, accessibility, enjoyment, and transition ease.
Q: Should your student take standardized exams?
A: Standardized testing is not required in California, but we recommend it for monitoring and adjusting your child’s performance at the national level. Also, having your students take the ACT or SATs during high school will make your student’s application competitive when applying for colleges.
Q: Can tuition be transferred from one student to another?
A: No, tuition is non-transferable to another student’s or family’s account.
Q: Does 10x Learning Center have a dress code.
A: Yes, kind of. As a conservative environment, clothing should cover the body appropriately, avoiding overly revealing, offensive, discriminatory, or suggestive attire. Students are expected to comply with the dress code during school hours and at school-sponsored events. If they are not, they are expected to change into clothing that the school can provide, or they will be asked to be picked up by their parents.
Q: Is 10x Learning Center a Christian program?
A: 10x is a non-religious non-profit and we welcome everyone! As long as the student is a good fit for the community, we accept anyone willing to learn that agrees with the vision statement of 10x Learning Center, its membership agreement, and Code of Conduct.
